According to Origins, if I start using their new product range, Biotherm Skin Vivo, right now, I could look a whole ten years younger by the end of December. Woohoo!
Let’s face it, no-one wants to get old, and by the sounds of it these new products are a step in the right direction – a direction that points towards younger, more supple-looking skin.
Biotherm is a skin biology company that has been around for over 50 years and has always been at the forefront of skin research and discoveries in anti-ageing technology. Skin Vivo is at the pointy end of this research, being the first reversive anti‐age skincare line with record doses of Pure Thermal Plankton and Reverserol SV. These key ingredients apparently have the capacity to rejuvenate the skin so that we are one step closer to getting rid of those crows feet and frown lines.
There are four products in the Skin Vivo range: a day cream, a serum, an eye gel and a skin renewal lotion, all of which are designed to take action at the source of the causes of aging rather than on their consequences.
The proof is in the pudding so I can’t wait to give this new skin care line a go. After all, I’ve got nothing to lose… except fine lines, that is.
Aesop’s fragrances are sophisticated, interesting and truly memorable. And their beautifully distinctive ‘Marrakech’ and ‘Mystra’ are now available in new forms.
The seductive scents come in eau de toilette, in a smaller 50ml size as well as a 100ml, plus a concentrated parfum, and a new potent Baume de Parfum (or Concentrated Balm for us monolingual Aussies).
Unorthodox and intense, ‘Marrakech’ is an invigorating and spicy scent with cloves, cardamom and sandalwood, while ‘Mystra’ is a multi-layered mix of mastic, frankincense and labdanum, all ingredients that I can’t pronounce but my nose seems to understand.
Furthermore, Marrakech and Mystra are unisex, so you can even channel Posh & Becks with your man and do a matchy-match with your fragrances! But that’s as far as that goes; matching outfits are prohibited!
Zimmermann is one of my favourite local labels. Created in 1990 by sisters Nicky and Simone Zimmermann their clothing and swimwear brand is at the forefront of Aussie fashion. Known for it’s unique prints, striking colour palettes and gorgeous fabrics, Zimmermann embodies that signature Australian style; laid back and relaxed, yet head-turning and glamorous.
I bought the Moody Palm bathers the other day and am in L-O-V-E! There’s something about wearing a Zimmermann bikini - you feel sexy, unique and gorgeous, as I’m sure, celebrity devotees Kate Hudson, Gwyneth Paltrow and Mischa Barton will agree.
Check out their new Spring Summer 09/10 collection Bittersweet Nightshade, for bikinis in dusty lilacs, greys and washed-out prints, all designed with the Zimmermann signature. Flirty and feminine!
This time, their romantic fashion pieces are juxtaposed with razor-sharp tailoring like blazers and tuxedo pants and their fabrics have fantastic textures created by knotting, laser cutaways, draping and layering.
So what are you waiting for? Get ready for the warm weather and head to Zimmermann, stat!
Ok girls, school formal is just around the corner so it’s time to decide on the dress, the shoes, the bag, and of course, the makeup. Formals are a fantastic opportunity to break free from school uniform, makeup regulations and make an impact with your own sense of style.
So make your makeup a focus and head on down to David Jones, where the Napoleon NP Set is offering every girl the chance to have a Formal Makeover for just $80, which is then completely redeemable on product. To seal the deal NP Set is adding a free Lip Gloss Compact so you’re guaranteed to be paparazzi-ready at your formal.
The NP Set collection is easy-to-use, affordable and fashion-forward and better still, contains active ingredients like pomegranate extract, shea butter and avocado oil so you know that underneath the glamour, you’re doing your skin good, too.
If you haven’t heard of thesartorialist.blogspot.com rather than pity you, let me fill you in. Created by fashion industry devotee Scott SchumanThe Sartorialist showcases the fun, weird and wonderful fashion tastes of everyday people, people he passes by on the street. Today, the blog receives more than 100 000 hits a day, and The New York Times called it ‘The bellwether site that turned photo blogging into an art form'.
With that kind of buzz the move from screen to quality coffee table art was inevitable. At the end of this month, The Sartorialist’s enticing images can be seen in a medium that doesn’t make your eyes sting when you stare at it for too long. Schuman’s anthology of his favourite shots will be released in hard-back and will include photographs of well-known fashion figures as well as those fashion-fiend anonymous pedestrians from the streets of Rio to Beijing, Stockholm to Milan.
The book is a beautiful example of Scott’s successful effort to bridge the gap between the fashion industry and the fashion wearer as well as inspiring designers and fashion lovers from all walks of life.

Hands up if you would willingly exchange chocolate and sunlight forever for one day with Edward Cullen? Well thanks to Supré you and your BFF have the chance to get that little bit closer to the mortal version of Edward, Robert Pattinson, as well as his gorgeous co-star and alleged girlfriend (we hate her!), Kristen Stewart.
If you’re a Twilight and fashion fanatic you could be in a frenzy for five whole nights, as you visit the film locations of Twilight in Vancouver, Canada, and Oregon. And if that hasn’t already stopped your pulse, the lucky winner will also get to take home a whole stack of Twilight goodies signed by Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, including a guitar, so the only thing you’ll be wishing for is the accompanying serenade.
All you need to do to enter is spend $35 or more at Supré and all of these fabulous prizes could be yours. I would also suggest building up the savings in your Karma bank by donating to a charity and offering to walk your neighbour’s dog - hey, it can only help!
This October keep a look out for Pink Ribbon products. If you see a little something you like and it’s got an untied pink bow logo then snap it up! And when you do you’ll be giving hope to the 1 in 8 Australian women affected by Breast Cancer.
The non-profit National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) does some wonderful work in research, detection, prevention and treatment of Breast Cancer. A number of Australian brands show their support by donating and creating products. Here are a couple of examples to keep your eye out for.
Coming out this October is the OPI pink of hearts 2009 edition nail lacquer. The shade will look fantastic with the prints and pastels of this summer’s fashion. Best of all OPI donates 100% of its profits to NBCF research.
Model Co, a veteran NBCF supporter, is also lending some of their award winning products to the campaign. With every one of their new turbo lashwand heated eyelash curlers and tan airbrush in a can sold they’ll donate $1 to the cause.
So help support a worthy cause, and look great too, not too much to ask is it? Both stocked at David Jones and selected salons at Westfield Shopping Centre’s.
